PM Warns Kem Sokha Bring Unfruitful Results (In Khmer Language)

–            http://vodhotnews.com/20629 (April 10, 2014)

I was born and grew up in the province, 200km from Phnom Penh city. In the province there are not much news and information via television, radio and newspapers. I had never been able to access newspaper to read and the few media available didn’t have many data.

However, things changed when I moved to Phnom Penh, capital city of Cambodia, to pursue my studies. In 2011, went to Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), which is the biggest state-run university in Cambodia. I pursued two bachelor degrees (Media Management and English literature) and the courses were conducted in English. My life has changed since then. I was illiterate and ignorant about the media and now I became journalist. I am currently working for Voice of Democracy (VOD), which is one of the few radio stations in the country that dares criticize the Cambodian government and covers sensitive issues that officials would rather remain unreported. I am committed in journalism career in the future because it is my passion and I think it can help my country to improve the democracy and the society as a whole.

I have been working as editor at VOD since June 2012. I report most of the stories related to political issues. Only few journalists in Cambodia dare to write about these sensitive issues as it bring many risks and security threats. Moreover, I learn and discover new skills everyday related to information and politics. I know how to undertake political analysis.

Besides working at VOD, I am also a part time reporter for Wall Street Journal. I report about the stories related elections, demonstrations, garment sector and other issues which impact the world. I strongly believe that a master degree in political science will be perfect for me to improve reporting and analysis skills to go ahead in my political journalist career. I am really motivated to learn from a foreign institution as Europe political systems are so different from the one in Cambodia.
